Sport massage consists of a combination of massage techniques designed to improve the client’s condition and minimize the potential negative effects of sports or other heavy physical activity. The overall effect of a sport massage is to stimulate the release of toxins in the body that are present after intensive physical effort of sport.
The treatment itself is given in a relaxed atmosphere on a professional massage table. The client lies in a comfortable position. Only the part being treated is uncovered. The massage techniques involved in sport massage are relatively firmer than a relaxation massage, but clients usually find they are able to relax very quickly. The techniques work on the skin, muscles, ligaments, tendons and joints.
